1. please tell us about your shop. when did you first open your shop and what made you choose to sell on etsy?

Hi- my name is Catherine (Cat) Ivins and I have 2 shops on Etsy- one called Polarity and one called Uncorked. I opened my first shop almost THREE years ago- which seems unbelievable to me! My niece found Etsy and showed it to me and I knew it was just the right place for me.

2. do you sell on etsy full or part time?

Full time plus (there are about 37 hours in a day now, right?)

3. what's your favorite part about running Polarity/Uncorked?

Definitely the wonderful, amazing people I have met. There are so many talented, open people on Etsy.

4. what are some of your favorite things/hobbies?

Ugh- I don't have time anymore for much- and I really miss reading, napping and basketball.
5. what is your MISSION-STATEMENT (i picked this one just for you because i love how eco-friendly you are and i know you will come up with something great:)

OK- my mission is 1. to make really cool, unique and interesting new things out of other things- things that are already being produced for a more useful purpose and to use as many sustainable, recycled and industrial parts as possible 2. to promote and support handmade 3. to open people up to new ways of looking at the things in their own lives and in particular how things can be used for multiple purposes

Where did i go?!?

okay, so it's only been 2 days since i've posted but it feels like a WHOLE LOT longer. our internet went out on Labor Day due to these tropical storms and it's still not fixed:( my husband and i have been doing our best to keep ourselves occupied but truth be told, we love our internet and have come to the conclusion that we are FULLY ADDICTED to it.
i did finish a custom case (pictured above) for a wedding present. i like the simple font.

i also recieved my ORANGE ROBOT BANK from TrashBirdMakes and i am head over heels in LOVE with him. look how much personality he brings to my bookshelf! also, if you haven't yet entered my Giveaway from TrashBird you should REALLY get on it. click HERE

lastly, i finished up this custom order wallet for my friend Jocelyn (i call her Ace) who is the owner of FLOWERLEAF on etsy. she has been searching high and low for the perfect wallet. she finally found one and had it shipped directly to me for some sprucing up. i think the wallet itself is adorable and i hope Ace loves it to bits and pieces.
okay, my back hurts from working in starbucks all day so i'm signing out and hoping that our internet is up and running soon or else we may self-destruct!!!!

are you ready? it's coming...... that's right- SCHOOL! then onto AUTUMN, pumpkins, leaves changing colors, apples and cider. can you tell it's my favorite time of the year?!

the shop is getting a TOTAL makeover. it's been in desperate need for quite some time. here's a preview of what we've been working on......

a little something new..... won't be doing much of it because it's quite time consuming but i had such fun stitching her up!

the military teacher just flipped out!

thanks so much for checking out the newness. i plan on adding lots of fun new designs to the shop over the next few weeks. i am also entertaining the thought of taking more custom orders, which will require more time but will also force this brain of mine to get more artistically challenged:)

pink red pretty happy!

oops! i missed sunday. i was a busy kid yesterday. i was also doing some serious relaxing due to the cloudy, rainy weather. i LOVED it because this poor florida foiliage is quite desperate for the water plus it put me in just the right mood: a balance of artistic inspiration and laziness:)

i told you i would share the treasures i picked up on saturday while i was running around but the one find that takes the CAKE and is going to be used for my fall photos is this old skool vintage rugby cardigan sweater with stripes and front pockets. it was a QUARTER! and look at all that pretty luggage sitting there waiting patiently to be upcycled. love this color mix!

now, onto the goodies from the first photo. red and pink galore with SUCH cute designs i can barely stand it!

(#2 & 3 are from the same shop because they were both so fun and i couldn't choose between them. #4 is the BEST shade of red and i would LOVE to upcycle/personalize that for myself or someone else)
