To Write Love On Her Arms

why i am just now finding out about this movement that has been going on since 2006 is beyond me, but i am glad i now know. that is all that matters.
and i'm ALL in!
what is TO WRITE LOVE ON HER ARMS?
"To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery."
Underoath, about to go on.
so many bands come out to support this movement in a HUGE way.
it's inspiring.
Bryce Avary of The Rocket Summer
as some of you may know i struggle with severe anxiety and depression. i have for as long as i can remember. literally, i remember being panicked in my crib. i remember myself needing to watch my little brother sleep in his crib when i was only 2 years old & being terrified that something awful was going to happen to him.
"That's the thing about depression: A human being can survive almost anything, as long as she sees the end in sight. But depression is so insidious, and it compounds daily, that it's impossible to ever see the end. The fog is like a cage without a key." Elizabeth Wurtzel

Love is the Movement
November 12th is "To Write Love On Her Arms Day"
it is a day where anyone can write the words "love" on their arms, to support those who are fighting against depression and those who are trying to recovering. On this day, just write love on your arms, and show it off, other people will ask why you have love written on your arms, and you tell them you are supporting to write love on her arms day, and how its benefiting a non profit organization helping stop depression, and make love the movement ♥
thank you for taking the time to read this post:)
here is a song about mental illness. although it is sad, i think it is beautiful. i've always felt it good to find some way to turn my pain into art, whatever the form may be

  1. What an awesome organization! I KNOW firsthand the hopelessness of depression and am so thankful to hear there is not only an organization like this for support, but also to help others understand the reality of the effects of depression and anxiety. Praying for you always, Rachel :)

  3. Holy crap Rachel - Evaporated was the song I listened to constantly, constantly constantly when I went thru my first major Bipolar episode as an adult going thru my divorce. I couldn't stop listening to it.
Thank you again for bringing something awesome to my attention - may I repost this on my blog with your permission?

  4. I'm glad to see you posting about TWLOHA. They've been a favorite organization of mine. An old coworker of mine introduced me to it because his brother in law started it. I can verify that the people behind are 100% committed to helping others and spreading love. I'll be writing LOVE!

  7. I will be writing LOVE on my arm on Friday...my kid is not shaving this month {movember} and I wore purple a few weeks ago to show my support for another important cause...there are so many movements that need our collective attention...having two teenagers and many more teenagers 'in my life', I am strongly aware of the need to be present, to listen and show love to those around us. TWLOHA is an amazing cause...keep spreading the love...thank YOU Rachel!

  8. Thank you Rachel! You know I've been there. I didn't know about this organization and I'm on board too. Hugs and hoping the sun parts the cloud a bit more every day.

  9. I didn't realize that this existed. I've had so many family and friends suffer depression...what an important way to get the world to recognize this, rather then ignore.

  10. I, like many posting comments here, did not know this organization existed. Some people don't even realize how many people suffer from depression and I know firsthand how hard it can be some days. Thank you for getting this awareness out there. And thank you to TWLOHA!
    Amazing post Rachel :D
    Virtual hugs all around!!

  11. Thanks for posting this! More people need to realize how difficult it is to have a depression. They maybe can´t understand but they can support.

  12. Hi Rachel.
The whole thought of this movement is causing me some pain, but in a good way. I had no idea this was happening. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I don't really want to say what's in my heart, but it brings me so much comfort to know that this movement is real. I can only imagine how much comfort it brings to people who are suffering. The main problem with suffering is how it isolates us from others, so this whole concept makes so much sense to me.
    I will observe Nov. 12th.
    Love to you.

  14. like others I had no idea about this movement. how wonderful it is. having suffered myself, I know how totally isolating it is, and anything which allows people to feel a sense of community, solidarity etc is wonderful. I wonder if there is anything like this in the UK?
thanks for highlighting it, and hope you are feeling well
    Rachel x
